HCMH to Break Ground on Radiology & Surgery Expansion Project

HUMBOLDT, IOWA — September 8, 2026 — Humboldt County Memorial Hospital (HCMH) will officially break ground on its new Radiology & Surgery Expansion Project on Monday, September 14, marking an exciting milestone in the hospital’s continued investment in the future of healthcare in Humboldt and the surrounding communities.

The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 14, at the HCMH Surgery Center, located on the back side of Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

The project will bring permanent MRI services to HCMH, allowing patients to access advanced imaging services closer to home. In addition to the new MRI service, the project will include renovations and improvements to HCMH’s existing Surgery and Radiology spaces.

“This project is an exciting investment in the future of Humboldt County Memorial Hospital and the patients we serve,” said CEO Michelle Sleiter. “By investing in our facilities, technology and services, we are strengthening our ability to provide high-quality care close to home and ensuring HCMH continues to meet the healthcare needs of our community for years to come.”

The addition of permanent MRI services will expand the diagnostic imaging capabilities available at HCMH and provide greater convenience for patients who may otherwise need to travel outside of the community for MRI services.

The Surgery and Radiology renovations will also create improved spaces for patients and staff while supporting the hospital’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality care in a modern healthcare environment.
