Humboldt County Set to Become First County in Iowa to Guarantee a Wish Forever

This Sunday, June 21, Humboldt County will celebrate a historic milestone as it reaches its goal of raising $300,000 for the Make-A-Wish: Humboldt County Forever Wish Fund. With the funds raised through this campaign, Humboldt County will become the first county in Iowa to establish a Forever Wish Fund, ensuring that a local child facing a critical illness will receive a life-changing wish year after year for generations to come.

The community is invited to be part of this historic moment by attending the Make-A-Wish: Humboldt County All-Star Game at the Humboldt High School Softball Field. Gates will open at 4:00 PM, with the celebrity slow-pitch softball game beginning at 6:00 PM.

The event will feature former and current Iowa Hawkeye and Iowa State Cyclone football players coming together for a friendly rivalry game in support of local wishes. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet their favorite players, collect autographs, and celebrate the incredible accomplishment that the Humboldt County community has achieved together.

"This event is about much more than a softball game," said Michelle Sleiter, CEO of HCMH. "It's a celebration of what can happen when an entire community rallies behind a cause. Because of the generosity of countless donors, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters, Humboldt County is making history and creating a legacy that will impact local children and families forever."

In addition to the celebrity game, attendees can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities including a meal, kids activities, autograph sessions, a home run derby, and a live auction. Auction items include Iowa and Iowa State gameday packages, team memorabilia, a football signed by former Hawkeye and current Philadelphia Eagle Cooper DeJean—who participated in the All-Star Game in 2023—and many other unique experiences and collectibles.

A wish can provide hope, strength, and joy to children battling critical illnesses while creating lasting memories for their families. Through the Forever Wish Fund, Humboldt County will ensure that these life-changing wishes continue to be granted locally for years to come.

Tickets are available online or at the gate for $10 per person. Community members are encouraged to attend, celebrate this historic achievement, and help officially cross the finish line toward the $300,000 goal.
