Humboldt 5K Color Run/Walk

Dear participants and vendors:

Thank you for registering for the 2022 Humboldt 5K Color Run/Walk for Mental Health and Suicide Awareness! Here are some things you need to know before the big event!

How do I get my color gear?

On Sunday, May 1st the Color Gear Pick-Up and Vendor Show will start at 1 p.m., we have over 350 participants so please come and enjoy our vendors, pick-up your t-shirt, sunglasses and powder early so you are ready to go at 2:30 p.m!

Are you accepting day of registration?

Yes, we are! Participants that registered after April 15th or will register on Sunday at the event might not receive their color gear that day. They will however get their packet in 2-3 weeks following the event.

Is the color run/walk safe?

The health of our participants and employees is always our top priority. The color powder is all certified non-toxic and free of any heavy metals. The bright colors are a combination of cornstarch, baking soda, and FD&C (food-safe) dyes. Some participants opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths. Our certified ‘Color Throwers’ make sure to aim low as you pass by. The color mostly washes out after the event. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. It’s best to wear items that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful.

Do you have a cleaning station?

Yes, we will have two hand washing stations available as well as an air-blown color cleaning station. With a good dusting off, you won’t be 100% clean, but you’ll be good for the drive home. It’s always fun to see people still colorful around town after the color run. It’s like a badge of honor!

Can I run with my dog/cat/turtle?

For the safety of our runners and animal friends, we do not recommend animals attend this event.

What happens if there is bad weather?

A little rain won’t stop this 5k. It even makes the color brighter! If there are major weather warnings during the weekend of the event, stay tuned for emails or visit the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Facebook Page for updates. In the event that severe weather does threaten the event, we are prepared to reschedule. The event director, in accordance with the city and local law enforcement, has the authority to cancel the event. If threatening weather conditions force us to reschedule, no refunds can be provided, since the funds were already spent in preparation for the event day. All participants will receive an email with the rescheduled date and time.

EVENT MAP: The 5K will start promptly at 2:30 p.m. Participants will run/walk 3 laps to fulfil the full 5K.  You do not have to run/walk 3 laps if you do not want to, this is not a timed event and we will not judge.

We are very excited to see everyone on Sunday, May 1st and THANK YOU for supporting this much anticipated event and mental health and suicide awareness in Humboldt County!

A Colorful Shout Out to Our Event Business Sponsors! This event could not be made possible without you!

The Humboldt 5K Color Run/Walk is a five-kilometer, untimed event. At each kilometer mark, Color Runners are doused from head to toe in a different colored powder. Participants wear white at the starting line and finish the race plastered in color. Once the race is over, the fun continues with music, photo ops, activity booths, vendors, and more massive color throws, which create millions of vivid color combinations. All proceeds from this event go to support mental health and suicide awareness through actions that support, educate and empower patients, students and families of Humboldt County. This event is in partnership with the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, Humboldt Schools, Humboldt Law Enforcement and Humboldt County Sheriff Office.
