Emergency Medical Service (EMS)
The HCMH Ambulance Service reach and exceed the ‘gold standard’ in urgent response. Emergency calls that fall under the classification of "Urgent" emergencies will set off a response from not only the ambulance crew, but available "off call" EMS personnel.
The system is highly organized with each EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) being able to establish radio contact with the Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center, the ambulance crew and the hospital. The ambulance department is leading the way to this concept and takes pride to offer this type of volunteer service to our patients.
Humboldt County Memorial Hospital has partnered with LifeFlight in Fort Dodge to bring rapid air transport for critically-ill and injured patients. They provide air ambulance services 24/7 to our region. The helipad is located conveniently near our Emergency Department and is able to transport patients to Fort Dodge, Des Moines, Mason City, Iowa City and Rochester.
The ability to stabilize and transport patients as quickly as possible is critical, which is why LifeFlight and its crew can be instrumental during life-threatening situations. In addition to providing transport from an emergency scene, LifeFlight also transports between hospitals if a patient is in need of specialized medical or surgical treatment.
